Building Stronger Community Connections

One Metro West: Already Building Great Connections

For the past two years, One Metro West has been building a wide and thorough understanding of our approach to create Costa Mesa’s newest community in order to enrich the fabric of Costa Mesa and protect our City’s traditional residential neighborhoods. To date, we have held multiple one-on-one meetings, had coffees, went for bikes and walks, and hosted a series of big and small events connecting us with thousands of Costa Mesa residents and neighbors.

Community Outreach Log

The focus of our outreach has been to residents, property owners and employers within a half-mile of the 405, both north and south, while a number of our efforts have had citywide reach with dozens of churches, community groups, schools and the many residents they serve.

Event Recaps

IKEA Project

One Metro West supported IKEA, Trellis community agencies and local food banks during a drive-through giveaway, where 1,200 low-income families received emergency food boxes filled with essential staples such as rice, beans, pasta and fresh produce. Hundreds of cars lined up in IKEA Costa Mesa’s parking lot for the distribution, where many needy families received relief. Check out the video and read the article in the Daily Pilot.

Thanksgiving in a Box

One Metro West hosted a Happy Thanksgiving by providing “Thanksgiving In a Box” for 228 Costa Mesa and Tustin families. Turkeys and sides were personally packaged and delivered, working with local legacy restaurants, to serve a fabulous feast. Northgate Market Gonzalez turkeys and Avila’s El Ranchito sides came together to deliver delicious holiday dishes, cooked with culture and care.

Trunk O’ Treat Halloween Drive-Through

This past October, we joined Power of One Foundation (POOF) and IKEA Costa Mesa to bring a socially distanced Halloween fun during our first drive through Trunk O ’ Treat. Attendees drove through the line of “Tricks and Treats”, each receiving a treat bag filled with goodies for children, and a box of food for their family provided by POOF, an organization on a mission to feed 1.6 million people in Orange County from April to December 2020.

More community outreach. Education for local residents. Support for local services. They’re among the many reasons One Metro West is great for Costa Mesa.
